Learning Coach

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
This week learners decided how they wanted to respond to the following reflection questions. Whether they decided to write it out on paper or on their iPad, make a video, etc. all pieces were sent to SeeSaw for you to view. If you are not able to see your learner's submission, please contact me.
          1. What are 2 things that you learned in your seminar?
          2. What is 1 personal goal you have for yourself for over vacation?

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
This week all learners answered these reflection questions and submitted them to Seesaw. Please check their for your learner's video or writing. :)
             1. Reflect upon your new seminar and interest groups. What are you in? What have you been talking and thinking about so far?
             2. What habit of mind are you working on?

WEEK'S REFLECTION QUESTIONS
This week learners were asked to reflect either through writing or video on the following two questions.
     1. What are 2 things that you learned in your seminar?
     2. What is 1 thing that is hard for you and what strategies are you using to try and make it a little easier?

SEESAW
Please be aware that if you don't receive an email from me with evidence of your child's meeting with me this week, it means that they created a video while we were together and it has been shared with you via the SeeSaw link that was sent home a few weeks back. If you need another copy of the link, please contact me. :)

VIDEO SHARES
This week you should have received an email notification to join Seesaw an online learning journal. Please sign in to that and view your child's profile. Right now they have just one video from this past week, but we will be continuing to add videos and evidence of their shared learning on there. If you have any questions, please contact me. :)

BOOK ENDING ACTIVITY
While learners have been meeting with me the past 2 weeks, others have been paired up and working on a book ending activity. I read the story, "Arthur's Thanksgiving", up until the last few pages. The activity was to create their own ending to the story. Most pairs chose to do this on their iPad using BookCreator or GoogleDocs. It was a super fun activity that went well with a mixed pairs of learners. :)

IPAD DOCUMENTATION AND REFLECTION
This week we used our iPads to document and reflect on our learning. Some learners chose to make videos while others chose to make pictures or write it out. You will be receiving these in email format within the next few hours. :)

EMAIL UPDATES
I started this week sending out an email to all of you regarding what I talked to your child about during our time together in learning coach. I am going to try each week that I meet with individually with your child to send you out an email communication sharing exactly what we talked about and what goals they set. If you are not receiving the emails, please contact me so that I can ensure that I have your information correct. :)

WEEK 5
We continued to work together and play collaborative some academic games this week, as well as meet individually with learners to discuss what they are working on and set some goals for next week. Soon I will be creating a spreadsheet to track their responses and goal setting, and my goal is start emailing everyone each time I meet with a learners to share out what they are saying and what goals they are creating for themselves so that the goals can be followed up at home. :)

WEEK 4
We reviewed our new vocabulary and put it into action while reflecting on our current goals. I met with almost every student individually as well as in a whole group. While I was meeting individually with learners, others paired up and completed some budding reading. It was great to sit with learners individually and really begin to build an even deeper relationship with them. :)

WEEK 3
During this week, we introduced some new vocabulary that will be used for reflecting on our academic and social goals. This vocabulary includes Novice (I learned something new and need more practice.), Apprentice (I am working with an expert to learn more.), Practitioner (I know it well enough to work on my own.), and Expert (I am a specialist and can teach others.). We will use this vocabulary when we are looking at what we are working on in all academic and social areas each week. We also began to work in pairs to do book buddies and build the expectations for that activity while I am working with individual students.

WEEK 2
Week 2 went great! We started with discussing some of the goals (both academic and social) that they have been working over the past week. We filled out a reflection sheets as well as completed a team work challenge to see which team could build the tallest tower in a 10 minute period. It was super fun, and there were some great conversations.

FIRST DAY
Our first day of learning coach time was a success! We completed a couple of team building activities along with discussed some hopes and dreams. We talked about last year and the things that were successful and struggles along with what we are excited and worried about for this year. Below you will find a few pictures of our team building activity along with paper that we filled out during this time. I am excited to continue to get to know these learners and build strong relationships with them.
